Francis Poulenc ( 1899-1963 ) is a composer and a French pianist, an author of about two hundred melodies or songs, accompanied for the greater part in the piano or by an orchestra.

Poulenc, like Haydn and Schubert, is one of the few great composers not only content with, but modestly amazed at being human. He wrote works for orchestra including several concertos, also three operas, two ballets, incidental music for plays and film music.
